dr. Kaja Kraner

Leta 2010 je diplomirala na Akademiji za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje UL, nadaljevala študij kulturologije na Fakulteti za družbene vede UL in leta 2020 doktorirala iz humanističnih študij na AMEU-ISH Ljubljana. 

Od leta 2010 deluje kot neodvisna kritičarka za sodobne vizualne in performativne umetnosti, od leta 2015 pa tudi kot rezenzentka na področju filozofije, teorije, zgodovine umetnosti in estetike. 

Med leti 2014 in 2016 je bila programska sodelavka Pekarne Magdalenske mreže in kuratorica Galerije K18 (Maribor).

Med leti 2015 in 2019 je bila članica uredniškega odbora ŠUMrevije za kritiko sodobne umetnosti in teorijo (glavna urednica št. 5 (2016) in št. 10.1 (2018)), med letoma 2015 in 2019 redaktorica umetnostno-teoretske oddaje Art-area na Radiu Študent, v letu 2021 gostujoča urednica 284. številke ČKZ Časopisa za kritiko znanosti, med letoma 2019 in 2020 članica komisije za področje vizualnih umetnosti in članica komisije za samozaposlene Ministrstva za kulturo RS.

Kot neodvisna raziskovalka je med letoma 2016 in 2017 sodelovala v raziskovalnem projektu “Osemdeseta skozi prizmo dogodkov, razstav in diskurzov” v okviru projekta Rabe umetnosti – dediščina let 1848 in 1989 (konfederacija muzejev Internacionala), med letoma 2019 in 2022 v projektu Paralelni sistemi – vzpostavljanje in uveljavljanje intermedijske umetnosti (SCCA Ljubljana in Društvo Igor Zabel) in med letoma 2020 in 2021 On Cosmotechnics and New Geopolitics (WC/SD? (Belgrade), Moderna Galerija (Ljubljana), Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai), Guangdong Times Museum (Guangzhou), ArtCom (Astana), Robel Temesgen and Sinkneh Eshetu (Addis Ababa), The Public Library Bor). 

Od leta 2019 v partnerstvu Pekarne Magdalenske mreže, fakultete USEK Kaslik (Libanon) in prof. Mihe Vipotnika kontinuirano sodeluje v sodelovalnih projektih libanonskih in slovenskih umetnikov.

Od konca leta 2021 je znanstvena sodelavka Moderne galerije Ljubljana v okviru raziskovalne skupine MG. 

Leta 2021 je pri založbi Krtina izšla njena znanstvena monografija Kronopolitika umetnosti: spremembe v estetski vzgoji od moderne do sodobne umetnosti.

In 2010 she graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (UL), continued her studies of cultural studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences (UL) and in 2020 received her PhD in humanities at AMEU-ISH Ljubljana.

Since 2010 she has been working as an independent critic for contemporary visual and performative arts, and since 2015 also as a reviewer in the field of philosophy, theory, art history and aesthetics.

Between 2014 and 2016, she was a program associate of Pekarna Magdalenske mreže and curator of Gallery K18 (Maribor).

Between 2015 and 2019 she was a member of the editorial board of ŠUM – journal for critique of contemporary art and theory (editor-in-chief No. 5 (2016) and No. 10.1 (2018)), between 2015 and 2019 she was the editor of the art-theoretical radio broadcast Art-area at Radio Študent, guest editor of the 284th issue of ČKZ Journal for the Critique of Science in 2021, between 2019 and 2020 a member of the commission for visual arts and a member of the commission for the self-employed at the Ministry of Culture RS.

As an independent researcher, she participated in the research projects “The Eighties through the Prism of Events, Exhibitions and Discourses,” 2016-2017, within the project Uses of Art – Heritage of 1848 and 1989, L’Internationale confederation; Parallel Systems – Establishing and Forming New Media Art, 2019-2022 (SCCA Ljubljana and Igor Zabel Association) and On Cosmotechnics and New Geopolitics, 2020-2021 (WC / SD? (Belgrade), Moderna Galerija (Ljubljana), Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai), Guangdong Times Museum (Guangzhou), ArtCom (Astana), Robel Temesgen and Sinkneh Eshetu (Addis Ababa), The Public Library Bor).

Since 2019, in partnership with Pekarna Magdalenske mreže, USEK Kaslik Faculty (Lebanon) and prof. Miha Vipotnik continuously participates in collaborative projects of Lebanese and Slovenian artists.

Since the end of 2021, she has been a research associate at the Modern Gallery Ljubljana within the MG research group.

In 2021, she published a scientific monograph Chronopolitics of Art: Changes in Aesthetic Education from Modern to Contemporary Art (Krtina).
