dr. Janez Strehovec

Dr. Janez Strehovec je doktoriral na Filozofski fakulteti v Ljubljani iz filozofske estetike. Poleg drugih raziskovalnih obveznosti je bil vodja nacionalnih raziskav pri projektu Teorije internetske kulture in internetske besedilnosti (2001–2004) in eden glavnih raziskovalcev (PI) pri evropskem raziskovalnem projektu ELMCIP, vključenim v HERA (2010–2013). Kot izredni prof. je predaval teorijo novomedijske umetnosti in kulturno politiko na nekaj oddelkih ljubljanske, mariborske in primorske univerze. V letih 2014 in 2015 je predaval e-literaturo v okviru Erasmus programa na madridski Univerzi Complutense. Trenutno je direktor nevladnega Inštituta za nove medije in e-literaturo. Strehovec je avtor osmih znanstvenih monografij, ki segajo na področja kulturnih študijev, umetnostne teorije, e-literarne teorije in estetike. Sodobnejši sta Text as Ride (2016) in Contemporary Art Impacts on Scientific, Social, and Cultural Paradigms: Emerging Research and Opportunities (2020). Več let je deloval tudi kot samostojni kulturni delavec (pesnik, esejist in kritik) in bil član različnih uredništev (npr. pri Journal of Popular Culture in pri Computing literature book series). Njegovo raziskovalno področje obsega estetiko, teorijo medijske umetnosti, e-literarno teorijo, umetniški aktivizem in trajnostni razvoj. V 1980. letih je deloval tudi v kulturnem novinarstvu in bil urednik kulturne rubrike Dela.

Dr. Janez Strehovec holds his PhD in philosophy (at Faculty of Arts, Uni. of Ljubljana). He was the principal investigator at national research project Theories of Internet Culture and Internet Textuality (2001–2004) and the principal investigator of the HERA European project on e-literature (ELMCIP) (2010–2013). As associate prof. he taught the new media art theory and cultural policy at several departments of Uni. of Ljubljana, Uni. of Maribor and Uni of Primorska (Koper). In 2014–15 he taught electronic literature at Erasmus int. program in Madrid, University of Complutense. Currently, he is director of non-governmental Institute of New Media Art and Electronic Literature, Ljubljana. He is the author of eight scientific monographs in the fields of cultural studies, art theory, e-literary criticism and aesthetics. The most recent are Text as Ride (2016) and Contemporary Art Impacts on Scientific, Social, and Cultural Paradigms: Emerging Research and Opportunities (2020). He was also the freelance writer (poet and critic) and member of several editorial boards (e.g. Journal of Popular Culture and Computing literature book series). His research interest includes aesthetics, media art theory, e-literary criticism, art activism and sustainable development. In 1980s he dealt with cultural journalism and was the arts editor of Slovenian national paper Delo.
